Nan Meriweather backpacked with her family to Orkney in 2004.  By 2006 she and her husband purchased a plot of land and built a small cottage by the sea in Orkney.

 

Nan grew up in a family of many generations of farmers and people who believed in serving their community.   With this as a background she pursued and achieved an advance degree in school and community psychology and for years served children and families as a school psychologist , researcher, creator and director of alternative therapeutic programs for disabled children including Equus Outreach and Winslow Therapeutic Riding.  

 

Now retired, she spends her time between her home in North Carolina and Orkney and being with her family who lived around the world which all inspire her writing.
