OLD FRIENDS AND NEW ON HOY Join Us on the Hamnavoe!!
OLD FRIENDS AND NEW ON HOYare buzzing about. Friends of Fiona and Fenella have built a nest in the rocks near the beach and are very particular about their privacy. So, when I walk I give their nest a wide berth or risk being dive bombed until I am taught more respect. Finlay and Preston are busy visiting up at the Old Man with Guilby and pals. The Old Man appears to be ignoring the climbers intruding on his person. Ragnor and Magnus are comparing information about what’s going on all over the island including the return of their friend Chrichten the cuckoo bird who visits only on rare occasions.

It was a rainy and cold spring and fields are just now turning green and flowers blooming. Some really big news is that the Sea Eagle returned to Hoy this year for the first time in nearly 142 years! With their 8 foot wingspan you just might see them. Check out the RSPB information at the Dwarfie Stane. http://www.orcadian.co.uk/2015/04/sea-eagles-nest-in-orkney-after-142-year-absence/

School will be out soon and lots of families will be visiting Orkney. Emma will also be on school holiday and she and Andy are planning an expedition and some exploring this summer. Emma has been studying about explorers in school and sharing all of her information with Andy, Ragnor, Magnus and their friends. They have been very busy making a wonderful ‘PLAN’ to go exploring on Hoy and of course not without the help of Fiona, Fenella and Guilby. There is lots of exploring all over Orkney. Some sites that have been discovered are 5000 years old. Several sites have been found on Hoy.
This Sunday, 28 June Andy and Nan will be sailing on the Hamnavoe and we hope to see some of our readers then. Goodbye for now.
